On Sunday, the AZ Dolphins and Tucson Turf Blue performed well in bracket play to represent Arizona well in Nevada.
Here are the games we covered on championship Sunday.
AZ Dolphins
Opening up bracket play for the AZ Dolphins, they faced off against Premium the 10 (CA).
Early in the game, the Dolphins' offense struggled; however, their defense came through with multiple key stops.
Eventually, the offense found its footing and got into the end zone.
Queen Creek 2028 quarterback Sawyer Hales high-pointed a pass to McClintock 3-star 2027 athlete Aidan Whitaker for a touchdown.
The defense for the Dolphins kept proving to be elite as Centennial 2027 defensive back Devin Taylor was able to snag an interception.
Closing out game one of bracket play, it was again Hales and Whitaker connecting for a touchdown.
The AZ Dolphins beat Premium the 10 (CA) 29-10.
For their round of 32 matchup, the AZ Dolphins faced another California team in G2S (CA).
The duo of Hales and Whitaker from game one carried over into game two as they again connected for an early score.
Looking unstoppable, the AZ Dolphins continued to roll through G2S (CA).
The nail in the coffin was when Hales found Horizon 2027 wide receiver James Klopfenstein in the back of the end zone for a touchdown.
The AZ Dolphins defeated G2S (CA) 30-6.
Unfortunately for the AZ Dolphins, though, they would lose 24-23 to #9 CAT Takeover (TX) in the round of 16 and finish 5-1 on the weekend.
Tucson Turf Blue
Opening up as the #3 seed, Tucson Turf was poised to go on a deep run.
Tucson Turf had their game one of bracket play versus TOA Sho (CA).
Looking to make a statement early in bracket play, Tucson Turf got out to a hot start.
Adding to their lead late in the game, Basha 2027 quarterback Jake Rogers found his big target in ALA Queen Creek 3-star 2027 tight end Talan Scott for a touchdown.
Tucson Turf would close the game out strong on both sides of the football.
Defensively coming through for them was St. John Bosco (CA) 2027 linebacker Justin coach grabbing an interception.
Their final score of the game came when Williams Field 2027 quarterback Dom Barjona and Marana 2027 wide receiver Jaxsun Sharp connected for a touchdown.
Tucson Turf won 31-6 against TOA Sho (CA).
In the round of 32, Tucson Turf went up against Milllz (IN).
Coming out of the game strong, they would rattle off back-to-back touchdown drives.
The first one being Rogers throwing a perfect pass in the corner of the end zone to Timpview (UT) 4-star 2028 wide receiver Dennis Tua’one.
Following the first touchdown drive, Rogers rolled out to his right to find Scott for Tucson Turf's second touchdown of the game.
They would just keep adding to their lead as Rogers threw two more touchdown passes to close out the game.
Rogers once again found Tua’one for a touchdown, then found his Basha teammate, 2027 wide receiver Christian Diaz, for another six points.
Tucson Turf won convincingly over Milllz (IN) 27-12.
Tucson Turf faced off against LoPro 2 (NV/HI) in their third game of bracket play.
After winning their first two games with ease, Tucson Turf would keep their foot on the gas in the sweet 16.
On the first play of the game, Rogers threw a deep bomb to San Diego State commit and Liberty 2027 wide receiver Braxton Huynh for a 40-yard touchdown.
LoPro 2 (NV/HI) would gain some momentum as they once held a 9-7 lead.
The defense for Tucson Turf came through, however, as St. John Bosco (CA) 2028 defensive back Brandon Nash came out of nowhere to snag an interception.
Capitalizing on the interception, Barjona found Marana 2027 wide receiver Sean Roebuck, who would proceed to put a defender on skates to get into the end zone.
Tucson Turf made sure to close out the game as Barjona hit Huynh, who caught his second touchdown pass of the game.
Taking down LoPro 2 (NV/HI) 25-15, Tucson Turf would advance to the elite 8 of the bracket.
The further they advanced, the tougher the teams Tucson Turf would face.
In the quarterfinals, Tucson Turf played against Paradise City (FL).
Just like they had done all weekend long, Tucson Turf would come out swinging.
On their opening drive, Barjona rolled out to his right to complete a pass to Tua’one for a score.
Not too long after scoring, they would add onto their lead.
Rogers found one of his go-to targets of the weekend in Scott, who scored a touchdown.
Sealing the game for Tucson Turf was Nash, who climbed the ladder to make one of the most impressive interception grabs of the day.
Tucson Turf defeated Paradise City 19-11 and entered themselves into the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, Tucson Turf faced one of the best 7’s teams in the country, Cali Power.
It looked worrisome at first for Tucson Turf as Cali Power marched down the field and scored with ease on their opening drive.
The offense for Turf responded, however, as Barjona led a methodical drive down the field, which ended in Scott catching the touchdown.
After letting up the early touchdown, Tucson Turf’s defense locked up Cali Power.
Barjona would throw two more touchdown passes in the game, one to Diaz and the final one to Scott again.
Tucson Turf took a commanding win over Cali Power, 24-6, and advanced to the championship game.
Going head-to-head in the championship game would be Tucson Turf versus GATA (NV).
This would be the tallest task for Turf as GATA (NV) has been dominant in this year's 7’s circuit, most notably defeating AZ Dolphins in the Pylon Las Vegas championship as well as being co-champions with AZ Dolphins at the Redzone MLK Jamboree last month.
Tucson Turf would start the game out with a trick play.
Roebuck, who is traditionally a wide receiver but is also Marana's emergency QB, threw a great pass to Scott for the game's first touchdown.
Following the touchdown, Tucson Turf’s defense came through with an interception.
Desert Edge 3-star 2028 defensive back Nekhi Lambeth jumped a route perfectly and snagged an interception.
Tucson Turf would eventually go up two possessions as Barjona hit Desert Edge 4-star 2027 wide receiver Zerek Sidney for a touchdown.
After taking a commanding lead, GATA (NV) was able to gain momentum as they scored 12 unanswered points.
Even though they got back into the game, Tucson Turf proved to be too much for GATA (NV).
Barjona would cap off the championship game with two more touchdown passes, both of them to Huynh.
Tucson Turf took down GATA (NV) 33-20 and were crowned the champions of Battle Las Vegas.
Tucson Turf finished a perfect 9-0 on the weekend and looked like an immovable force.
