AZ Dolphins Goes 3-0 in Pool Play at Pylon Mecca

Pylon Mecca saw some of the best talent from Arizona, Nevada, and the whole country showing out.

Pylon Mecca is home to one of the best venues in all of America at the beautiful Mesquite Sports and Event Complex.

Three teams from Arizona traveled to Mesquite, Nevada to participate in arguably the biggest 7v7 event on the West Coast.

The Unknown Boyz, AZ Dolphins, and AZ Angels were the teams in attendance from Arizona.

Here is how each of those teams did in pool play on day one.

Unknown Boyz

Unknown Boyz had their pool play in the morning and faced off against THE Ohio Players White.

The offenses for both teams failed to score on their opening drives as both defenses played well to open the game.

Eventually, Unknown Boyz would get on the board first.

Cesar Chavez 2028 quarterback Emmanuel Hernandez lofted a pass over to Cesar Chavez 2027 wide receiver Anttwon Talton for a 40-yard touchdown.

Soon after scoring the opening touchdown, Unknown Boyz would cause a turnover on defense.

Coming out of nowhere to make a play, Cesar Chavez 2027 defensive back Cadence Soto snagged an interception.

THE Ohio Players White would score a touchdown late in the game, but time was not on their side as they didn’t get another chance to get the ball back.

Unknown Boyz would win their first pool play game 8-7 over THE Ohio Players White.

For game two of pool play, Unknown Boyz took on the Boise Tropics (ID).

Boise Tropics (ID) would get out to a fast start as both their offense and defense were clicking.

The Tropics took a quick 13-0 lead over Unknown Boyz.

After stalling on offense early, Unknown Boyz would be able to find the end zone late in the game.

Moving the ball down the field methodically, Unknown Boyz got on the board as Hernandez found Maryvale 2027 athlete Miles Woods wide open in the end zone for a touchdown.

Unknown Boyz would not be able to score the rest of the game, though, and fell to the Boise Tropics (ID) 20-7.

For their third and final pool play game of the day, Unknown Boyz faced Hitmen (MN).

Both sides of the ball struggled in game three for Unknown Boyz, and they would take a 20-0 loss.

Unknown Boyz finished pool play 1-2.

AZ Dolphins

The AZ Dolphins have been a force all 7’s circuit, and day one at Pylon Mecca was no different.

In game one, they faced off against RARE PREMIER (ID).

Wasting little time, the Dolphins would get on the scoreboard.

For the first score of the game, Queen Creek 2028 quarterback Sawyer Hales found Horizon 2027 wide receiver James Klopfenstein in the back of the end zone.

The Dolphins' defense would come through as well, snagging an interception.

After the turnover, the offense would pull through again as Hales found Klopfenstein for another touchdown.

Ultimately, the Dolphins would pull away as their offense kept applying pressure and their defense was lockdown.

Hales would throw two more touchdown passes to finish the game, both being to McClintock 2027 athlete Aidan Whitaker.

AZ Dolphins would route RARE PREMIER (ID) 30-12 in game one of pool play.

In game two, the AZ Dolphins would take on FA Alphas Blue (WA).

Unlike game one, the Dolphins would get out to a slow start.

FA Alphas Blue (WA) took an early 8-0 lead after scoring on their opening drive and snagging an interception.

After the slow start, the AZ Dolphins would get into a rhythm.

Getting the offense going, Hales would connect with Whitaker, who was left wide open in the end zone for a touchdown.

Keeping the momentum going, the Dolphins would strike again and take their first lead of the game.

Hales threw a deep bomb to Sunrise Mountain 2027 wide receiver Tanner Austin, who got the ball to the one-yard line.

One play later, Hales would once again find Whitaker for a touchdown.

FA Alphas Blue (WA) would score again but still needed a successful PAT attempt to tie the game up.

Cactus Shadows 2027 defensive back Aidan Chambers got an interception on the PAT attempt to make it unsuccessful.

With only a few minutes left in the game, the Dolphins put together a game-sealing drive.

Hales would fire a dart to the middle of the field to Klopfenstein for the go-ahead touchdown.

AZ Dolphins would win the close one over FA Alphas Blue (WA) 21-14.

For their third and final game of pool play, AZ Dolphins took on TEAM TOA SHO (CA).

The opening drive for the Dolphins was flawless as they were able to score with ease.

Hales was able to find Klopfenstein, who made a great snag to get the ball and was able to scamper into the end zone.

TOA SHO (CA) was able to score, but their PAT was no good, and the Dolphins still held onto their lead.

The offense for the Dolphins kept on firing.

Firing a quick pass, Hales connected with Centennial 2028 wide receiver Jason Lee for a touchdown.

Hales would then throw for his third passing touchdown of the game on the following drive to Mesa 2027 athlete Kameron Williams.

The Dolphins' defense would then seal the victory.

Making arguably the play of the day, Liberty 2028 defensive back Kadin Young made a diving catch to get the interception.

The AZ Dolphins took down TEAM TOA SHO (CA) 21-13.

Going 3-0 during pool play, the AZ Dolphins secured the #8 seed in bracket play.

AZ Angels

The AZ Angels were the last Arizona team to play their pool play games, and for game one, they took on Noble Athlete (UT).

The Angels got on the board quickly as Centennial 2028 quarterback Titus Hill threw his first touchdown pass of the contest.

It didn’t take long, however, for Noble Athlete (UT) to tie the game up at 7.

AZ Angels would fire another quick touchdown, though, as Hill connected with Liberty 2027 wide receiver Braxton Huynh for a score.

Noble Athlete (UT) would go on a roll and score two unanswered touchdowns and take the lead.

Still fighting, though Hill would throw for his third touchdown of the game late to tie it at 20.

Then, in heartbreak fashion, Noble Athlete (UT) scored a game-winning touchdown on the last play of the game.

AZ Angels would fall just short to Noble Athlete (UT) 26-20.

In game two, the AZ Angels would bounce back when they took on FOE Elite - Select (TX).

Hill would fire two quick touchdown passes to Huynh and get out to an early 13-12 lead.

The Angels would end up extending their lead.

Hill lofted a pass to Desert Edge 2029 wide receiver Preston Brown for a touchdown.

FOE Elite - Select (TX) would go on to score two more touchdowns, one of them being with only a minute left in the game.

It seemed as if the AZ Angels would have another heartbreaking loss, but their offense was able to get the ball down in a hurry.

As time expired, Hill would throw a missile to Liberty 2027 wide receiver Evan Adamczyk in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown.

After losing as time expired in game one, the AZ Angels would be the ones to pull off the clutch touchdown in game two.

The AZ Angels defeated FOE Elite - Select (TX) 27-25.

In their final game of pool play, the AZ Angels went head-to-head against IESF (CA).

For the first score of the game, it would be the connection of Hill and Brown getting the Angels on the board.

Coming through on defense, the Angels got a crucial stop and allowed their offense to extend the lead.

Hill would then connect with his twin brother and Centennial 2028 tight end Torrin Hill for a touchdown.

IESF (CA) was able to get on the board and cut the lead to just six points.

Both offenses became stagnant, though, as neither team scored the rest of the game.

The AZ Angels would walk away with their second straight win as they beat IESF (CA) 14-8.

Going 2-1 in pool play, the AZ Angels will have the #19 seed in bracket play.
