The Snowflake Lobos dominated the Mesquite Wildcats 48-0 to move to 9-0 for the season.

During every kickoff, Snowflake's sideline and crowd yelled “hit somebody!”

While that motto is said only during the kickoff, the statement is fulfilled every play for the Lobos.

Snowflake head coach Trevor Reddick said the team has bought into that mindset of being a tough team.

“Establish a mentality: we’re going to be physical,” Reddick said. “We’re gonna play with a little bit of an edge and get after it. The whole group has bought into that principle.”

From the opening kick to the final whistle, the Lobos owned the game.

Their opening drive on offense wasn’t the prettiest, as they had multiple penalties called against them, but it didn’t stop them from scoring.

After marching down the field, 2027 running back Brenner Green was fed the ball, and he punched his way into the end zone from eight yards out to put the Lobos on the board.

The defense would also get it done for Snowflake, as they were able to force a turnover before the end of the first quarter.

2029 defensive back Maverick Greer laid a huge hit on the Mesquite receiver in order to jar the ball loose and give his offense the ball back.

It only took two plays for the Lobos to capitalize on the turnover.

2027 quarterback Jacob LaDuke lofted a bomb to 2027 wide receiver Nash Reidhead for a 60-yard score to round out the first 12 minutes of the game.

The momentum kept rolling for Snowflake in the second quarter.

In the first few minutes of the second quarter, LaDuke called his own number and barreled through a plethora of defenders to score a 65-yard touchdown.

LaDuke had a phenomenal game, and he credits the team’s toughness as one of the reasons why they are able to be such a dominant offense.

“We’re just really tough,” LaDuke said. “I like to run hard too.”

Thankfully for Mesquite, though, the defense would come away with one of their biggest plays of the game on the following drive.

The Wildcats were able to force a turnover as Mesquite 2027 defensive back Eason Hopper made a great play on the ball to come away with an interception.

Mesquite, however, was not able to capitalize on the turnover.

Rounding out the first half, Snowflake was able to tack on two more touchdowns and start to put the game out of reach.

With two minutes left in the half, LaDuke tossed his second passing touchdown of the game when he connected with 2029 athlete Eli Willis for a 35-yard score.

Then, finally finishing off the first-half scoring spree, Snowflake went back to their ground attack.

For the second time in the half, Green maneuvered his way into the end zone, this time for a 24-yard touchdown.

Every time Green touched the ball, it seemed as though he was going to score.

While he had a dominant performance himself, he gave credit to his offensive line for establishing the running attack.

“Our guys blocked really well,” Green said. “They just gave me a lot of room to work with.”

At halftime, Snowflake held a demanding 34-0 lead.

During the second half a running clock would be turned on and chewed up most of the clock.

However, the Lobos weren’t satisfied and still added on two more touchdowns before the end of the contest.

Midway through the third quarter, Green was fed the ball once again, and he found himself back in the end zone to score his third and final touchdown of the game.

Then, finishing things off for Snowflake, they looked towards their special teams unit to make a big play and add on six more points.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, 2027 athlete Colter Willis returned a punt almost 60 yards to the house for the final score of the game.

Snowflake made the trip down to the East Valley and was able to go back home with a 48-point victory.

The Lobos have easily been the most dominant team in 4A this season.

Now they get a chance to go a perfect 10-0 during the regular season when they face Arcadia next week, the only team that beat them last regular season.

Snowflake is up for the challenge and likes their chances in the game.

“I can say so many good things about the Arcadia program,” Reddick said. “But we like where we’re at, and we’re going to give them a run for their money.”

Next up: 9-0 Snowflake looks to finish the regular season undefeated when they face 7-1 Arcadia. 4-5 Mesquite likely need a win in their final regular-season game versus 2-6 Poston Butte to get back into the postseason.
