Hattingh Holds, Pushes #24 Sun Devils Past Kansas State 4-1

TEMPE – The Sun Devils (5-1) extended their perfect home-court record to 5-0 on Sunday with a 4-1 victory over the visiting Kansas State Wildcats (0-2) after No. 32 Ilze Hattingh held on to defeat Kansas State's Karine-Marion Job in straight sets (7-5, 6-3) on court one.


The Sun Devils started the day by clinching the doubles point with a 6-2 victory from Kolarova/Morlet on court two paired with a 6-0 victory from Sammi Hampton/Marianna Argyrokastriti on court three. The Sun Devils immediately took command in singles play, with victories from Lauryn John-Baptiste (6-4, 6-1) on court three and Argyrokastriti (6-1, 6-1) on court five.



How it happened

Doubles:

The day started with a 6-0 victory from Argyrokastriti/Hampton on court 3, followed by a 6-2 victory from Kolarova/Morlet on court two, giving the Sun Devils the doubles point. Hattingh/John-Baptiste led 4-3 before their match was abandoned.


Singles:

Argyrokastriti was the first one off the court in singles play, defeating Kansas State's Anna Turco at No. 5. She was followed by John-Baptiste winning 6-4, 6-1 on court three, and Hattingh brought in the final point the Sun Devils needed by winning 7-5, 6-3 on court one. With the match clinched, play was abandoned on courts four (Giulia Morlet) and six (Tereza Kolarova).
