Chandler Wins 2nd ASU 7v7 Tournament; Centennial Wins Big Man

Big Man Competition

The ASU big man camp highlighted multiple players who are great in the trenches.

Here are some players who stood out.

Highland 2027 offensive lineman Otto Nelson

Nelson showed how versatile he can be on the offensive line for the Hawks in 2026.

Lining up at tackle, guard, and center, Nelson played almost every position on the offensive line Thursday night.

Nelson was highlighted as one of the five best offensive linemen at the ASU camp, which was chosen by ASU players and coaches.

He displayed great technique and, quite frankly, dominated whoever was in front of him.

Pinnacle 2028 defensive edge Ian Fullmer

Fullmer is coming off a stellar 2025 year and looks to only be getting better.

Whether he lined up on the left or right side, Fullmer used a combination of strength and speed to win a majority of his 1-on-1 reps.

Fullmer was explosive during the big man competition and was one of the best edge rushers of the day.

Hamilton 2027 defensive edge Derrick LeBlanc Jr

His name is already well respected in Arizona, but LeBlanc continued to show why he is one of the best edge rushers in the state.

The 3-star was named one of the best five defensive linemen chosen by ASU coaches and players as he dominated the day.

LeBlanc is strong and quick, and his overall technique is some of the best you will see.

Centennial 2027 offensive lineman Benjamin Lowther

Lowther is a 3-star Stanford commit, and he continues to prove why he is one of the best offensive linemen in Arizona.

He was poised and showed his strength during the camp as he dominated the entire night.

Not letting any pressure, Lowther was one of the most impressive players of the day.

Lowther and his teammates dominated the entire competition and ended up as the winners of the ASU big man competition.

7v7 Bracket Play

#4 Centennial vs. #12 Horizon

The quarterfinals saw the Centennial Coyotes and the Horizon Huskies square off.

From the jump, though, the game belonged to Centennial.

The Coyotes marched down the field on the opening drive and would find the end zone fast.

2028 quarterback Titus Hill found 2028 wide receiver Jason Lee on a short hitch route for the first touchdown of the game.

For the entire game, Centennial shut down the Huskies' offense.

Centennial would get multiple interceptions in the game and play great goal-line defense to prevent Horizon from scoring.

The Coyotes would also add on one more touchdown late to put the game away.

Hill threw his second touchdown pass of the game to his new teammate, 2028 running back Jaylee Abraham, who transferred in from Desert View less than 2 weeks ago.

After the touchdown, Centennial would win the game 16-0 and move on to the final four teams.

#3 Chandler vs. #10 Hamilton

The semifinal game would see a CUSD rivalry take place as the Chandler Wolves and the Hamilton Huskies faced off.

Opening up the game, Chandler got out to a quick 16-0 lead.

On the first play of the game, 5-star 2027 Oregon QB commit Will Mencl launched a deep ball 40 yards to 3-star 2027 Wisconsin ATH commit Jai Jones for a touchdown.

The Wolves then proceeded to snag an interception.

Chandler scored on their second drive as once more Mencl and Jones connected for a touchdown.

The Huskies were not out of the game yet.

Hamilton 4-star 2028 quarterback Jax Sculley was able to throw his first touchdown pass of the game when he found 2029 wide receiver Roman Oliver in the end zone.

Both teams kept trading touchdowns.

Mencl threw two more touchdown passes.

One of which was to Chandler 2028 wide receiver Easton Arreola and the other to 2028 running back David Douglas.

Sculley matched Mencl’s touchdown passes.

As the game progressed, Hamilton found a rhythm on offense.

Making an incredible throw, Sculley hit Hamilton 2027 wide receiver Christian Riley in the back of the end zone as Riley came down with the contested grab.

The following drive, Sculley and Riley connected once more to make it a one-possession game.

Even though Hamilton found momentum on offense, Chandler looked near perfect on offense as well and kept the Huskies out of reach.

The Wolves would put the game away.

Mencl threw his fifth and final touchdown pass of the game to Chandler 2027 wide receiver Jackson Colter on a quick slant.

Chandler would win 36-27 and head to the championship game.

#1 Basha vs. #3 Chandler

You couldn’t have scripted a better matchup for the championship game at the ASU 7’s tournament.

A 2025 Open Division title rematch between the Basha Bears and the Chandler Wolves as the final game of the night.

It felt like a Friday Night Lights game with all the parents and fans flooding the northern half of Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium.

The start of the game was all Basha.

After getting down the field fast on the opening drive, 2027 quarterback Jake Rogers was able to connect with 3-star 2027 Texas RB commit Noah Roberts on a wheel route for the touchdown.

The Bears then snagged an interception on Chandler's opening drive as the wide receiver bobbled the ball and landed into a Basha defender's hands.

Basha only needed one play on their next drive to score.

Rogers lofted a ball 40 yards down the field, and it landed right into the hands of Roberts to make the game 14-0.

The Wolves came to life after trailing early.

Chandler rattled off two quick touchdowns.

Mencl hit Arreola twice in the middle of the field for touchdowns and made it a tie game at 14.

Not only did the offense come to life, but the defense also shut down Basha for two straight drives.

Chandler then took their first lead of the game.

Throwing a perfect pass, Mencl connected with 3-star 2027 wide receiver Maxwell Sprott in the back of the end zone to take the lead.

Out of nowhere, Chandler scored 20 unanswered points.

With only two minutes left in the game, Basha had to put together their best drive of the game.

The Bears pulled through as Rogers hit Basha 2027 wide receiver Jaden Baldwin near the sideline for the game-tying touchdown.

The championship game was headed to overtime.

Chandler went first on the PAT attempt.

Staying poised, Mencl was able to convert the PAT as he connected with Chandler 2027 wide receiver Kaydon Gray.

Since they went and scored first, Chandler put all the pressure on Basha to convert their PAT.

With the game on the line, Chandler was able to force the Rogers pass to Makai Nelson out of bounds and win the game 22-21.

Chandler hoisted the pitchfork and finished as the best team at the ASU camp.
